Our Visit to Georgia Untamed Zoo

Our Visit to Georgia Untamed Zoo

One of the highlights of our trip was getting the opportunity to visit Georgia Untamed Zoo and spend time with its owner, Dawn. We always enjoy visiting other wildlife facilities. There is something special about meeting people who share the same passion for animals and seeing the unique environment they have created.

For us, these visits are about more than seeing animals. We love learning, exchanging ideas, observing different approaches to animal care and enrichment, and spending time with people who understand how much dedication goes into caring for wildlife every day. Georgia Untamed Zoo was a wonderful part of our trip, and we loved experiencing the facility, its animals, and Dawn’s dedication firsthand.

My Favorite Encounter: The Parakeet Exhibit

My favorite encounter at Georgia Untamed Zoo was the parakeet exhibit. There was something so special about being surrounded by these colorful, lively birds and enjoying the experience of feeding them directly from my hands. Watching the parakeets fly in, perch nearby, and gently take food from my hands was an unforgettable experience. It was a simple moment, but it created such a personal connection with the birds. Experiences like this make wildlife feel more relatable and help us appreciate the unique personalities and beauty of each species. The parakeet exhibit was definitely one of the highlights of my visit and a memory I will always treasure.

Jazz in the Jungle

We traded our wildlife clothes for a little glamour to attend the Jazz in the Jungle Gala, an evening dedicated to celebrating and supporting conservation. The atmosphere was incredible. Beautiful surroundings, music, wonderful people, and a shared love for wildlife made it a night to remember. One of the most exciting moments of the evening was watching Dawn, the Oak Meadow Ranch co-owner, be crowned Conservation Queen in recognition of her incredibly generous donation to conservation.

It was such a fun honor, but it also represented something incredibly important. Conservation depends on people who are willing to step forward and invest in protecting wildlife and its future. Dawn’s generosity was a beautiful example of putting a love for animals into action, and we were so happy to be there to celebrate her. Congratulations, Conservation Queen Dawn!

Experiencing the Zoo

We had the opportunity to spend time exploring Georgia Untamed Zoo, and naturally, we wanted to see everything! Owning a wildlife ranch changes the way you visit another animal facility. We notice the habitats, enrichment, animal care, landscaping, educational information, guest flow, and all the thoughtful details that go into creating a memorable experience. But we also make sure to simply enjoy it. Sometimes the best moments are spent standing quietly and watching an animal interact with its environment. Those moments remind us why places that connect people with wildlife can be so powerful. ou may arrive wanting to see an animal you’ve always loved, but you often leave fascinated by a species you knew very little about before your visit. That curiosity is where conservation can begin.

An Incredible Day at the Georgia Aquarium

No wildlife trip to Atlanta would be complete without experiencing the Georgia Aquarium. It was absolutely breathtaking. The moment you step inside, you enter an entirely different world. Massive viewing areas provide an incredible perspective of marine life, and watching these extraordinary animals move through the water is mesmerizing. Being surrounded by such an enormous underwater world gives you a completely different appreciation for our oceans and the wildlife that depends on them. There is something very humbling about standing in front of an enormous aquarium window and realizing how much of our planet exists beneath the surface. It is beautiful, peaceful, and incredibly inspiring.

Bringing the Inspiration Back to Texas

One of our favorite things about traveling is coming home inspired. Every wildlife facility has something different to teach. We pay attention to the big things, but often it’s the smallest details that spark an idea—an enrichment concept, a guest experience, an educational message, or simply a different way of creating a memorable connection between people and animals. Those ideas come home with us to Oak Meadow Ranch. Our goal has always been to give guests experiences that create genuine connections with wildlife. We want people to leave with incredible memories, but we also hope they leave wanting to learn more, care more, and understand why protecting wildlife matters.

Our Georgia adventure reminded us that whether you’re standing among wildlife at Georgia Untamed Zoo, feeding parakeets from your hands, celebrating conservation at Jazz in the Jungle, or watching marine giants glide overhead at the Georgia Aquarium, the message is the same: When people experience animals, they connect. When they connect, they care. And when they care, conservation has a future.

Thank you, Georgia Untamed Zoo, for the invitation. What a wonderful gala! And congratulations once again to Dawn, the Conservation Queen, for her incredible generosity and commitment to conservation. We came home inspired—and already looking forward to our next wild adventure.
